Imperial Dade is seeking a highly motivated, business-oriented,
proactive leader and team player to join the company's growing
Legal Department. This is a newly created position, reporting
directly to the General Counsel, designed to provide primary legal
support for Imperial Dade's employment-related matters. The
successful candidate will serve as the day-to-day legal business
partner, advising and counseling Imperial Dade business leaders on
federal, state and local employment law matters; monitoring key
employment law-related developments; working with Human Resources,
Employee Relations, and other stakeholders across the company to
develop policies and procedures to enable compliance with
employment laws and regulations; handling inquiries and
investigations by federal, state and/or local agencies; and
managing outside counsel handling complex litigation,
administrative proceedings, and specialized legal matters
Option for partial remote work.
Responsibilities:
Provide sound counsel, legal advice, and strategic support on a
number of federal, state and local employment law matters, which
may include the ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FCRA, FLSA, OFCCP, prevailing
wage, Title VII, WARN, E.O. 11246, and USERRA
Identify and assess brand and reputational risks associated with
employment law matters and provide advice and counsel about the
potential impact of those risks and opportunities for risk
mitigation
Partner with Human Resources, Employee Relations, and other
stakeholders across the company to develop policies and procedures
to enable compliance with employment laws and regulations
Monitor key employment law-related developments-including changing
employment laws and human resource practices and trends-and provide
strategic counsel to the business about the impact of such
developments on business objectives
Handle inquiries and investigations by federal, state and/or local
agencies, such as the EEOC, OFCCP, and DOL
Handle and / or oversee litigation, administrative claims, and
demand letters arising out of employment practices and related
matters
Provide legal support, including through efficient management of
outside counsel where necessary, during collective bargaining
negotiations and with respect to questions arising out of managing
union-represented workplaces
Establish best practices across the labor and employment law
function
Develop and provide training on employment laws, regulations, and
human resources best practices
Strategically manage outside counsel
Qualifications:
J.D. from an accredited law school, with strong academic
credentials
Membership in good standing in at least one state bar
At least 5 years' experience in sophisticated law firm and /or
corporate legal department, handling labor and employment law
matters before federal, state and local courts and administrative
agencies, and counseling clients on labor and employment law
matters; prior in-house experience strongly preferred
Excellent oral and written communications skills, research and
analytical skills, and ability to provide legal and risk management
advice and recommendations with a practical, business-oriented
approach to problem-solving
Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to inspire trust
and confidence with stakeholders at high levels, and to build
strong relationships across the organization
Self-starter with the ability to operate autonomously as well as
work collaboratively with stakeholders across the company
Demonstrated ability to initiate, embrace and drive change in a
dynamic, entrepreneurial environment
Exemplary leadership, time management, advocacy, organization, and
prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment
