Job Description Job Description Bachelor's or Master's degree in
Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and
minimum 1 years Special Education Teacher experience required.
Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be
considered. A full-time Special Education teaching role is
available in Sumter, SC, supporting an elementary school program
designed for developmentally delayed and mildly mentally disabled
students. This contract position focuses on delivering specialized
instruction while managing a behavioral classroom environment
effectively. Key Responsibilities: Teach and support a class of
approximately 10 students in grades 3rd through 5th with
developmental delays and mild intellectual disabilities. Manage and
deescalate behavior challenges within the classroom, ensuring a
positive learning environment. Collaborate biweekly with general
education teachers (K5-5th grades) during Professional Learning
Communities (PLCs). Participate in monthly meetings with Special
Education program directors to align educational strategies.
Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in
compliance with educational standards. Work alongside a classroom
paraprofessional to support student needs. Understand and engage
with other Special Education programs, including Developmental
Delayed and Moderately Mentally Disabled classes. Qualifications:
Active South Carolina Teaching Certification with multi-categorical
(multi-cat) endorsement required. Experience working with
developmentally delayed and mildly mentally disabled elementary
students. Ability to effectively handle and deescalate behavioral
issues within classroom settings. Comfortable with collaborative
teaching approaches and interdisciplinary meetings. Strong
commitment to students' academic and social success. Location and
Hours: Position located in Sumter, South Carolina. Full-time (37.5
hours per week). Contract duration aligned with the current school
year (CSY). This opportunity requires a dedicated educator ready to
